Tasks Panel — Drag to Schedule
The Tasks panel is a side panel on the Calendar that lists your open tasks, grouped by when they are due. Its main purpose is time-blocking: you can drag any task from the panel onto the calendar grid to set aside time to work on it. The block you create is your own personal schedule — it does not change the task's due date.
The panel works like the Tasks side panel in Google Calendar: a simple, grouped list on the right, with each task a single clickable (and draggable) row.
Opening the Tasks Panel
- Open the Calendar from the calendar icon in the top header bar.
- In the toolbar, click the checkbox icon (the Tasks-panel toggle, near the Create button).
- When the panel is hidden, the icon's tooltip reads Show tasks panel.
- When the panel is open, the tooltip reads Hide tasks panel.
The panel opens on the right side of the page, titled Tasks. Your choice to keep it open or closed is remembered between sessions.
To close the panel, click the ✕ (Close tasks panel) at the top right of the panel, or click the toolbar toggle again.
What the Panel Shows
The panel lists the tasks that are assigned to you and are still open (completed tasks are not shown). Tasks are grouped under headings, in this order — empty groups are skipped:
| Group | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Past | Tasks whose due date has already passed (overdue) |
| Today | Tasks due today |
| Tomorrow | Tasks due tomorrow |
| This week | Tasks due later this week (up to and including Saturday) |
| Later | Tasks due after this week |
| No date | Tasks with no due date set |
Within each group, dated tasks are sorted by due date (earliest first); No date tasks are sorted alphabetically by title.
What each task row shows
- Task title.
- Priority — a colored priority label (e.g. its level), shown when the task has a priority set.
- Where it came from — the task's project and who assigned it. If you created the task for yourself, this reads Self task; otherwise it reads Assigned by [name].
- Due date and time — for example May 13, 2026 · 5:00 AM. For overdue tasks in the Past group, the line reads as overdue instead (for example 5:00 AM · overdue).
If you have many tasks, a Load more button appears at the bottom of the list — click it to load the next batch.
If you have no open tasks, the panel shows: "No tasks. Drag tasks from here onto the calendar to schedule them."
Opening a Task
Click any task row (or press Enter / Space when it is focused) to open that task's detail dialog. This is where you view, edit, and mark the task complete — there is no separate checkbox in the panel; the row is a single, predictable click target.
Scheduling a Task (Drag to Schedule)
Dragging a task from the panel onto the calendar creates a personal time block for working on that task — independent of the task's deadline.
Step 1 — Open the Tasks panel
Use the toolbar checkbox icon as described above.
Step 2 — Drag the task onto the grid
Press and hold a task row, drag it onto the calendar, and release it where you want to schedule your work:
- Drop on a timed slot (the hour grid) → creates a 1-hour block starting at the time you dropped it.
- Drop on the all-day strip (the band at the top of the day) → creates an all-day block on that date.
When the block is created, a confirmation appears: "Task scheduled on your calendar." If it could not be saved, you will see "Could not schedule that task."
Step 3 — Adjust the block (optional)
Once a scheduled block is on the grid, you can fine-tune it:
- Drag the block to a different time or a different day to move it. A confirmation reads "Task placement updated."
- Drag the bottom edge of a timed block to make it shorter or longer.
- Click the block to open the task's detail dialog (the same dialog as clicking the row in the panel).
Scheduling a task this way never changes its due date. The task's deadline chip (on its due date) and your scheduled block are two independent views of the same task — so a task can appear twice on the calendar: once on its due date, and once on the day you blocked out time to work on it.
Your scheduled task blocks can be moved and resized. Task deadline chips (and other items owned by another module, such as meetings or invoices) cannot be dragged on the calendar — attempting to do so shows: "This item can only be rescheduled from its source module." To change a task's actual due date, edit the task itself.
Showing and Hiding Scheduled Tasks
The Tasks checkbox in the sidebar's My calendars section controls both task streams together — your task deadline chips and your scheduled time blocks. Turning Tasks off hides both; turning it back on shows both.
