Training Courses

Governance → Training Courses is where the company builds structured learning for its employees: a course made of chapters, each chapter made of lessons, with every lesson finished by watching a video, passing a quiz, or being signed off by a trainer. This page covers the administrator side — creating courses, building the curriculum and publishing. You need the Governance training access permission to open it.

The Course List

A table of every course with its Code, Title (with its description underneath), Category, Audience, Status and Updated date. Sort by code, title, status or date, search by code or title, and filter by Status (Draft, Published, Archived) or Category. Click a row to open the course. Long lists are split into pages, with a control for how many rows each page shows.

Auto · AudienceEmployees matching audience rules are enrolled automatically.
ManualAdministrators choose who is enrolled.
OpenAnyone may self-enroll from the catalog; the course is optional.

The New Course button in the header starts the course dialog described next.

Creating a Course

Create Training Course is a single dialog. The same dialog opens as Edit Training Course from the course page.

Code*
A unique reference such as TRN-001. Required, and it cannot be changed after the course is created.
Title*
The course name shown to learners, for example New Hire Orientation. Required.
Description
An optional one-line summary shown under the title.
Category
Optional. Pick one, or type a new name and choose the create option; the new category dialog opens with the name pre-filled and the category is selected once saved. Categories are managed under Training Categories.
Enrollment Mode
Who takes the course: Auto · All employees (every active employee, enrolled when the course is published and when they are hired), Auto · By audience rules, Manual (the default) or Open · Self-enroll.
Pass Threshold
The minimum quiz score, as a percentage from 0 to 100 (default 80), a learner needs to complete a quiz lesson.
Sequential progress
Ticked by default: learners must complete the lessons in order.
Mandatory
Ticked by default: the course is required rather than optional.

Create saves the course as a Draft. The code and title are required, and a threshold outside 0–100 is refused.

Info

A new course is invisible to learners until you add content and publish it. See Publishing and Enrollment.

The Course Page

Opening a course shows its title with a status badge (DRAFT, PUBLISHED or ARCHIVED) and these header buttons: Edit, Publish (on a draft), Archive (on a published course) and Delete. Delete asks for confirmation and warns that the course's chapters, lessons and any enrollments are removed with it, and that it cannot be undone.

There are two tabs.

  • Overview — counts of Chapters, Lessons and Enrolled employees, then the course facts: Code, Category, Enrollment Mode, Pass Threshold, Estimated Time (the sum of the lessons' minutes), Published date, whether it is Required or Optional, and whether progress is Enforced in order or Open order.
  • Curriculum — where you build the course. This tab opens by default.

Building the Curriculum

On a new course the Curriculum tab says Let's build your curriculum with an Add your first chapter button. Chapters group related lessons; each lesson is finished by a quiz or a trainer sign-off, or by watching a video.

Chapters

Type a chapter title in the inline box and press Enter to save (or Esc to cancel); a link opens the full Add Chapter dialog, which also has a Description. Chapters are numbered, show how many lessons they hold, and expand to list their lessons. Drag a chapter by its handle to reorder it. Editing a chapter opens Edit Chapter, from where it can be deleted.

Title*
For example Chapter 1: Welcome.
Description
What the chapter covers (optional).

Lessons

Inside a chapter, add a lesson by typing its title and pressing Enter. The small badge beside the box shows the lesson type; click it to cycle Video Lesson → Quiz → Hands On Training. Lessons can be dragged to reorder, and clicking a lesson opens Edit Lesson.

Title*
The lesson name.
Description
A short subtitle shown in the lesson list.
Content
Instructional text shown alongside the videos or materials.
Completion Type
How a learner finishes it: Video Lesson (watch the video), Quiz (reach the course's pass threshold) or Hands On Training (a trainer marks it complete).
Estimated Minutes
Optional; added up into the course's Estimated Time.

The type-specific content can be added once the lesson has been saved: the dialog first says so on a new lesson, then shows these sections when you edit it. Delete lesson also removes its questions and attachments.

Completion typeWhat you add
Video LessonLesson content: upload videos (MP4, WebM or MOV, up to 500 MB; they are converted to 720p automatically after upload) and optional downloadable materials (PDF, image, Word or PowerPoint, up to 50 MB).
QuizQuiz questions (below). No video is needed.
Hands On TrainingTrainer sign-off: who can sign off and instructions, plus optional materials.

Quiz Questions

On a quiz lesson, Add Question opens a dialog; existing questions can be edited or deleted from the list.

Question*
The question text.
Per-question timer (seconds)
From 10 to 600, default 60. It counts down on each attempt.
Explanation (admin-only)
Why the right answer is right. Shown only to administrators in reports, never to learners.
Options*
Between 2 and 6 answer options; use Add option for more. Mark exactly one as the correct answer. Every option needs text.
Tip

A learner passes the quiz when their score reaches the course's Pass Threshold, so a course with 5 questions and an 80% threshold needs 4 correct.

Hands On Training Sign-off

For a hands-on lesson choose Who can sign-off?:

  • Direct supervisor — resolves for each learner to that learner's own supervisor when it is time to sign off.
  • Specific user — pick one employee.
  • Role or Department — pick one, optionally limited to position ranks (Executive, Director, Manager, Senior, Staff).

Add Sign-off instructions describing what the trainer should verify before marking the lesson complete. The assigned trainer is notified when there is a sign-off to give, and the learner is notified if a sign-off is rejected.

Publishing and Enrollment

A course stays a Draft until you press Publish on the course page; this records the publish date and who published it. If the Enrollment Mode is automatic, the employees it covers are then enrolled in the background — you do not wait for it. Archive retires a published course.

Check the curriculum first

Publishing does not check that the course has chapters or lessons. Build and review the curriculum before you publish, because automatic enrollment starts as soon as the course goes live.

Employees take their courses from the learning page in the app (the training icon in the header), not from these administrator screens. The Overview tab's Enrolled count shows how many have been enrolled.

How It Connects

Set up first

  • Training Categories — courses are filed and filtered by category; create the ones you need first.

Feeds into

  • Training Categories — deleting a category leaves its courses uncategorised rather than removing them.
  • Employee Records (HRIS) — automatic enrollment covers the active employees on record, including people hired after the course is published.
