Deal Types

Deal Types categorize your sales opportunities and let you attach reusable pricing tiers to each category.

Overview

A deal type is a simple named category (for example "IT Services" or "Product Sale"). Each deal type can hold one or more pricing tiers — preset pricing packages (recurring revenue, implementation fee, total contract value, and discount limits) that can be applied when you create a deal.

Finding Deal Types

In the sidebar, open CRM and select Deal Types.

The Deal Types page shows:

  • Add Deal Type button (top right) — create a new type
  • Deal Types table — lists every deal type with these columns:
ColumnDescription
Type NameName of the deal type
StatusActive or Inactive
CreatedDate the type was created

You can search the list by Type Name, and sort by Type Name, Status, or Created. Click any row to open the deal type's detail page.

Deal Type Information

A deal type has only one editable field:

Status (Active/Inactive) and the Created date are managed by the system and shown on the detail page — they are not entered on the form.

Pricing Tiers

Each deal type's detail page has a second tab, Pricing Tiers, where you manage the pricing packages tied to that type.

The Pricing Tiers table lists each tier with these columns:

  • Max Discount %

Each row has edit and delete buttons.

Tips

  • Clear names — use descriptive type names so they are easy to recognize when creating deals.
  • Set discount limits — a Max Discount % on a tier flags deals that exceed it for approval.
  • Let totals auto-compute — the Total Contract is calculated from the Implementation Fee and MRR; only override it when you need a custom value.
