Slack Integration

Slack Integration lets a company administrator install the Ante bot into your company's Slack workspace. Once installed, Ante can send task notifications to your team as Slack direct messages, and team members can create tasks or ask Ante questions directly from Slack.

Who Can Do This

Only users with the System Settings permission (SETTINGS_CLOUD_CREDENTIALS_ACCESS) can install, enable/disable, or disconnect the Slack integration. Individual users connect their own Slack accounts under Profile → Connections.

Getting There

Go to Settings → System Settings → Slack.

Page States

Not Connected

When no Slack bot has been installed yet, the page shows:

  • A brief description of what the integration does.
  • Three bullet points summarizing what users can expect:
    • Notifications delivered to channels and direct messages.
    • One bot install per company workspace.
    • You can disable or disconnect it at any time.
  • An Add to Slack button.

Connected

Once the bot is installed, the page shows:

  • The workspace name the bot is connected to, with a Connected badge.
  • A Slack delivery toggle — turn it off to pause all Slack notifications without uninstalling the bot. The bot stays in the workspace; notifications simply stop until you turn it back on.
  • A note reminding you that each user must connect their own Slack account under Profile → Connections to receive direct messages.
  • A Disconnect button.

Common Tasks

Installing the Bot ("Add to Slack")

  1. Go to Settings → System Settings → Slack.
  2. Click Add to Slack.
  3. You are taken to Slack's authorization page. Sign in to the Slack workspace you want to connect, then click Allow.
  4. You are returned to Ante with a "Slack connected successfully" message. The page now shows the Connected state with your workspace name.

This is a one-time setup per company. Any user who already has a Slack account connected under their profile will automatically start receiving notifications once the bot is installed.

Enabling or Disabling Slack Delivery

  1. Go to Settings → System Settings → Slack (the bot must already be installed).
  2. Toggle the Slack delivery switch:
    • On — Ante sends Slack notifications to team members.
    • Off — Slack notifications are skipped; in-app notifications are still delivered.

The change takes effect immediately.

Disconnecting Slack

  1. Go to Settings → System Settings → Slack.
  2. Click Disconnect.
  3. A confirmation dialog appears: "This uninstalls the Ante bot from your Slack workspace. Slack notifications will stop until you reconnect."
  4. Click Disconnect to confirm.

The bot is removed from your Slack workspace. Users' individual Slack account links (under Profile → Connections) remain in place so they don't need to reconnect if you reinstall later.

What Happens After the Bot Is Installed

Once installed and delivery is on, every in-app notification is also delivered as a Slack direct message to users who have connected their Slack account. This includes:

  • Task assigned — when someone assigns a task to them.
  • Task activity and comments — updates and comments on tasks they are involved in.
  • Due soon — 24 hours before a task's due date.
  • Overdue — when a task's due date passes.
  • Filing approvals and rejections — decisions on any filing or request they submitted.
  • @mentions — when someone mentions them in a comment or message.
  • Payslip ready — when a new payslip is published for them.
  • Announcements — company-wide announcements posted by administrators.
  • Contract-end alerts — reminders when an employment contract is approaching its end date.
  • Timekeeping auto-close — notifications when the system automatically closes a timekeeping period.

To receive these DMs, each user must first link their own Slack account under Profile → Connections. Connecting Slack is the opt-in for all of the above — there is no per-notification toggle. Users without a linked Slack account still receive in-app notifications as normal.

Team members can also interact with the Ante bot from Slack:

  • /ante [task title] — Creates a new task attributed to your Ante account. For example: /ante Follow up with the client. The bot replies with a confirmation and an Open in Ante button.
  • @ante [question] — Asks the Ante AI companion a question. The answer appears in the Slack thread. Sensitive answers (such as payroll or financial data) are sent as a direct message instead of posted in the shared channel.

Tasks created from Slack show a Slack thread link in their detail panel so you can jump back to the original Slack conversation.

Tips

  • The bot is installed once per company, not per user. Individual DMs require each user to connect their own Slack account.
  • Turning off Slack delivery is a quick way to pause Slack notifications without removing the bot — useful during maintenance windows or holidays.
  • If a team member tries to use /ante or @ante before linking their Slack account, the bot replies with a prompt to connect under Profile → Connections.

Note: Installing the Slack bot requires administrator-level access in your Slack workspace as well as the System Settings permission in Ante.
