Track Work Time
Follow a work day from the moment it is captured to the moment it becomes pay: clocking in, where the punch lands, checking your own record, and correcting the days that came out wrong. Before You Start
Attendance is measured against the schedule an employee is on, so that has to exist first β see Set Up Shifts and Schedules. Two settings decide what an employee can actually do:
- Enable Time Tracker on their schedule, which is what allows clocking from the dashboard widget rather than only from a device β see Schedule Management.
- Your company-wide timekeeping rules in HR Settings β whether a face photo is required to clock, and whether clocking is restricted to certain networks.
For the full picture of how a face scan becomes payroll, read How Biometrics Connect to Timekeeping.
Time reaches ANTE through four doors, and they all end in the same place:
- Face-scan terminals β a registered device recognizes the employee and writes the punch. Devices are managed in Device Management; a terminal only feeds timekeeping while it is registered and active.
- The Time Tracker widget on the dashboard, for people who work at a computer.
- File import β a spreadsheet of time logs through Time Importation.
- Manual entry β a punch encoded by hand when one was genuinely lost.
Whichever door it came through, the result is a raw log: a time-in / time-out record against one employee, stamped with its source.
On your Dashboard, the Time Tracker widget shows Today's Total and a live timer. Click Start work β you can't start without saying what you're working on, so a "What are you working on?" dialog opens. Pick one of your active tasks, or keep typing and use Start working on "β¦" to create the task on the spot.
If your company requires a face photo for attendance, a camera dialog opens next: centre your face, click Capture, then Use photo.
While the timer runs, the task appears beside it with a switch icon β switching tasks does not end your session, it only changes what the time is charged to underneath. A small pulsing timer also follows you into the app header on every page. Click Stop work to end the day.
- 1Start work β begins a session, after you pick a task
- 2What this session counts toward β attendance or task time only
- 3History β your past time sessions
A line under the timer says, in plain words, what the running session means. It is worth reading before you rely on it for pay:
- "Timed in [time]" β a real attendance time-in is being recorded and will reach your daily time record and payroll.
- "Timed in at the kiosk β time out there" β you already have an open kiosk punch today, so this session links to it. End your day at the kiosk, not from the widget.
- "Task time only - not counted for attendance" β the clock runs and the time is still logged against the task, but it never reaches payroll. You see this when there is no employee record, when your schedule doesn't have Time Tracker enabled, or when you're on a network your company hasn't allowed.
If a session sits idle for about an hour, a "Still working?" prompt appears the next time you're back in the app. Answer Yes, I'm still working on it to credit the whole gap, or No, I stopped at [time] to close the session at your last real activity. The prompt can't be dismissed, and it blocks starting a new timer until you answer.
Manpower β Timekeeping Logs β Raw Logs Browse holds the punches themselves β every time-in and time-out, whatever their origin. Set the date range, then read the Source column to see how each punch arrived: from a device, an import, or a manual entry. That column is what makes a disputed punch traceable.
Export downloads what you're looking at, which is the quickest way to hand an employee the evidence behind a disputed day.
A punch that seems missing is often just outside the window you're looking at β scans near midnight land on the neighbouring day. Widen the date range before concluding it was lost.
- 1Date range β the window you are inspecting
- 2Source β device, import, or manual entry
- 3Export β download the raw punches
If someone insists they scanned, Face Scan Logs is the audit trail of the biometric layer β one row per attempt, matched or not, with the device it happened on and how sure the system was. The Status column tells you why nothing landed:
- Match β recognized confidently; this scan produced a punch.
- Ambiguous β two employees looked too alike to call safely, so no punch was written. The employee simply needs to scan again.
- Offline β the device couldn't reach the server at the time; the scan syncs when the connection returns.
See Face Scan Logs for the full column and filter reference.
Employees don't have to wait for HR to spot a problem. The My Attendance widget on the dashboard has two views, toggled with the calendar and list icons in its header:
- List view ("Attendance Warnings") β the issues on your record for a chosen cut-off period, filterable by All, Absent, or Overtime. Each warning offers Resolve (file the correction β an overtime-only warning opens the Overtime form, otherwise you choose Official Business or Certificate of Attendance) or Ignore, which asks you to confirm and can't be undone.
- Calendar view ("My Attendance") β a monthly grid; click any day to open its attendance detail.
Forgot to clock out at a device? No hours are credited automatically. Whether you resolve it at the device on your next scan or the system closes the session for you after it has been open more than 20 hours, that earlier day is marked absent. File a Certificate of Attendance for the day to claim the hours you actually worked.
HR works the same problems from the other side. The Attendance Conflicts widget on Manpower β Dashboard lists what needs attention β Missing Log, Missing Time Out, and No Attendance β with a search by employee and more rows as you scroll.
Mark each one Resolved once it is handled, or Ignore to dismiss it. Approving the employee's filing is usually the real fix; the widget just keeps track of what is still outstanding.
Some days can only be fixed on the timesheet. Open Manpower β Payroll β Payroll Time Keeping, choose the cut-off from the Active tab, open the employee, then right-click the day:
- Recompute Time β re-read the punches and filings for that day.
- Modify Time β set the values by hand. The dialog shows the Computed figure beside an editable Override for work hours, night differential, approved overtime, late, and undertime. Clear puts the day back on its computed values.
- Adjust Shift β swap the shift that applied to that one day and recompute it.
Overridden days stay flagged in the daily table, so a corrected day never looks like an ordinary one.
- 1Active β cut-offs still open for corrections
- 2In Process / Posted β submitted cut-offs, read-only
- 3Click a cut-off row to open its timesheet
Once a cut-off is submitted for payroll it freezes: opening it from the In Process / Posted tab shows the same screens read-only, with a "Timekeeping locked" banner naming its status. Attendance can no longer be edited there.
Corrections after that point flow through filing approvals instead, and their pay effect arrives on the next open cut-off as a Carry-over β see Timekeeping Freeze. It is far cheaper to resolve conflicts while the cut-off is still Active.
