Packing Standards let you define reusable packing configurations for your items — a saved recipe for how a set of items should be packed into a package (for example, "Coke 6-pack Box"). Once a standard is saved, it can be applied to a delivery to automatically work out and create the packages, instead of building each package by hand every time.
Overview
A packing standard records three things:
A name and a code that identify the standard
A package type (Box, Crate, Pallet, and so on)
A list of items with a quantity per package — how many of each item go into one package of this type

Page Layout
The Packing Standards page shows:
- Add Standard button (top right) — start creating a new packing standard
- Search box — find standards by name or code
- Standards table — searchable, sortable, and paginated
By default the table lists the newest standards first.
Table Columns

Package Types
When creating or editing a standard you choose one package type. The available types are:

Common Tasks
Adding a New Packing Standard
- On the Packing Standards page, click the Add Standard button at the top right.
- The Add Packing Standard page opens, divided into two sections.
- In the Standard Information section, fill in:
- Name (required) — for example, Coke 6-pack Box
- Code (required) — for example, COKE-6PK
- Package Type — choose from the dropdown (defaults to Box)
- Description (optional) — a short note about the standard
- In the Items per Package section, add the items that make up one package:
- In the Search Item box, type at least two characters to search your items.
- Pick an item from the results to add it to the list.
- For each added item, set its Qty per Package.
- To remove an item, click the × button next to it.
- Click Create to save. You're taken to the new standard's detail page.
A standard can be saved only when it has a Name, a Code, and at least one item, and every item has a quantity greater than zero. Until then the Create button stays disabled.
Each item can be added only once to a standard. Searching for an item already in the list won't add it again — change its quantity instead.
Viewing a Packing Standard's Details
- Click anywhere on a row to open that standard's detail page, or
- Open the row's action menu (the three-dot menu at the end of the row) and choose View.
The detail page shows the Standard Information section (Name, Code, Package Type, Status, and Description) and an Items per Package table listing each item with its Item, SKU, UOM, and Qty / Package.
Editing a Packing Standard
You can open the editor in two ways:
- From the table, open a row's action menu and choose Edit, or
- From a standard's detail page, click the Edit button at the top right.
The Edit Packing Standard page uses the same two sections as the add form, pre-filled with the current values. Make your changes and click Save.
Deleting a Packing Standard
You can delete a standard in two ways:
- From the table, open a row's action menu and choose Delete, or
- From a standard's detail page, click the Delete button at the top right.
A confirmation appears: Are you sure you want to delete this packing standard? This action cannot be undone. Click Delete to confirm.
Searching for Standards
- Use the search box above the table.
- Choose what to search by — Name or Code.
- Type your keyword. The list filters to match.
Sorting Standards
Click a column heading to sort by it. You can sort by Code, Name, or Package Type.
Applying a Standard to a Delivery
Packing standards are designed to be reused when preparing a delivery. From a delivery, you can apply a saved standard to automatically generate its packages instead of building each one manually.
When you apply a standard, the system works through a short dialog:
- Select — Choose from the standards that apply to the items in the delivery. Each option shows how many full packages can be created, plus a partial package when some items are left over.
- Preview — Review the exact packages that will be created. Each package is marked Full or Partial and lists the items and quantities it will contain.
- Apply Standard — Confirm to create the packages on the delivery. You'll see Packing standard applied successfully.
If none of your saved standards match the items in the delivery, the dialog shows No applicable packing standards found for the items in this delivery.
Tips
- Use clear names and codes — consistent names and SKUs make standards easy to find when applying them to a delivery.
- Set realistic quantities — the per-package quantity is what the system uses to calculate how many packages a delivery needs, including any leftover partial package.
- Keep standards up to date — when a packing configuration changes, edit the standard so future deliveries use the new layout.

💡 Note: A packing standard is a reusable template. Defining it once here saves you from rebuilding the same package layout each time you prepare a delivery.
