Balance Sheet
The Balance Sheet shows what the company owns (assets), what it owes (liabilities) and what is left for the owners (equity) on a given date, and checks the accounting identity: assets equal liabilities plus equity. Only posted journals count; draft (unposted) documents are excluded.
Where to Find It
- Click Treasury in the sidebar
- Open Financial Statements, then select Balance Sheet
You need the Treasury Financial Statements permission. The page title shows the currency, for example Balance Sheet (PHP).
Choosing What to Show
Click Apply after changing the date.
Reading the Standard Format
Each section (Assets, Liabilities, Equity) is a table of Category and Balance, closed by the section total. Equity includes retained earnings, which are derived: accumulated net income from the beginning through the report date, so no year-end closing entry is needed. A summary at the bottom shows Total Assets and Total Liabilities + Equity, with a badge reading Balanced or Not balanced and the difference.
If the sheet is not balanced, check the Trial Balance first; an unbalanced ledger shows up there too.
Seeing What Makes Up an Amount
Click any amount (category balances, section totals and the grand totals in the standard format; account, group and computed rows in the classified format) to open the Amount Breakdown. It explains how the figure is computed and lists the journal lines behind it, with an Open in General Ledger button where a single account is involved.
Apply Reporting Currency
Apply Reporting Currency translates the sheet in place into another currency (IAS 21), in either format. Pick a Reporting currency and a Rate book (or keep the defaults) and click Apply. The layout stays the same, and a Cumulative Translation Adjustment line appears in Equity to absorb the translation difference. If a required rate is missing, the page says the translation is unavailable. Click Reset to functional to go back.
Exporting to Excel
Export to Excel downloads the sheet in the format you are viewing. In the standard format with a reporting currency applied, the workbook shows the functional and the reporting figures side by side; in the classified format it keeps the statutory layout in the reporting currency.
