Bank Reconciliation
Bank Reconciliation checks a bank account's ledger against its bank statement for one month. You choose the account and the month, attach the statement, and ANTE matches every statement line to a ledger entry. You review the matches, deal with what is left over, and finish with a reconciliation report. The ledger side is read straight from your live books, so you never upload a journal export for this screen.
Where to Find It
- Click Treasury in the sidebar
- Open Accounting, then Financial Statements, and select Bank Reconciliation
A progress bar at the top shows the five stages: Set up, Statement, Processing, Review and Report. Once you have moved past a stage you can click it to go back, except Set up, because starting again would create a second reconciliation.
Setting Up a Reconciliation
The first stage is Set up reconciliation. Pick what you are reconciling against, then the month.
Click Start reconciliation. If the account is missing, ANTE asks you to select a bank account or GL account first.
Attaching the Bank Statement
- Click Select statement file(s). The File Drive opens in a picker titled Select bank statement.
- Choose one or more statement files for the period. Files you attached are listed under the button.
- Click Run reconciliation. It stays disabled until at least one file is attached.
Upload the statement to the File Drive first if it is not there yet. Back returns to the set-up stage.
Processing
ANTE reads the statement and matches it automatically. A checklist under Pipeline Steps shows the progress: Parse Files, Analyze Documents, AI Categorization, Normalize Data, Pre-process Entries, Algorithmic Matching, AI Matching Remaining, AI Analysis & Auto-Confirm and Calculate Statistics. When it finishes the screen moves to Review by itself.
Reviewing Matches
The top of the Review stage has four summary cards: Auto-Matched, Needs Review, Confirmed and Unmatched Entries. Below them, tabs let you work through the results.
Click a row to open its details. A match shows how well the amount, date, reference, description and category agree, next to the bank line and the ledger entry. Click Confirm Match to accept it, or Reject and give a reason to throw it out. Click Continue to Report at the bottom when you are done.
The Reconciliation Report
The last stage lays the reconciliation out as a statement with two sides. The Bank side starts from the statement ending balance and adds deposits in transit, then outstanding checks and outstanding transfers, to reach the adjusted bank balance. The Book side (GL) starts from the GL cash balance and adjusts for bank credits not in the GL, bank charges not in the GL and unrecorded debits, to reach the adjusted book balance. The Variance at the bottom is the difference between the two. It should be zero when everything is explained.
Download Report produces an Excel file with seven sheets: Reconciliation Summary, Bank + GL Tags, GL + Bank Tags, Unmatched Bank, Unmatched GL, AI Analysis and Adjusting JEs. Back to Review returns to the matches, and Finalize Reconciliation closes the session. Once finalized the button reads Session Completed.
Anything the bank has that your books do not, such as bank charges, still has to be recorded in the ledger. Post those as journal entries so the next month starts clean.
Coming Back to a Session
A saved session opens directly at the Review stage, so you can pick up where you left off without running the matching again.
