Fixed Asset Depreciation
Treasury → Fixed Assets → Depreciation is the reminder list of depreciation journals that are due to post across all active fixed assets. Each row is one asset-month whose period date has passed and whose journal is still Pending. Use it at month end to see what is waiting, then post it from the asset.
Reading the List
Search and sort the list as needed. When nothing is due the list is empty and shows "No fixed assets recorded yet." This page only lists; it has no post button of its own. Click a row to open that asset on its Depreciation Schedule tab.
Post the Depreciation
- Click a due row
The asset opens on its Depreciation Schedule tab.
- Post one period or all due
Press Post journal on a row for one month, or Post all due in the header for every due month of that asset.
- Come back to the list
Posted periods disappear from this list.
Each posting debits Depreciation Expense and credits Accumulated Depreciation for the period. Posting the same period twice does not create a second journal. When the last period of an asset is posted it becomes Fully depreciated. For units-of-production assets, record the units used for the period first, see Record Usage.
