Lease Liabilities

Lease Liabilities shows how each lease-liability account moved during the period: the opening balance, new leases recognised, repayments, and the closing balance, all taken from the general ledger. It is the schedule that supports the lease-liability lines on the Balance Sheet.

Where to Find It

  1. Click Treasury in the sidebar
  2. Open Accounting, then Schedules, and select Lease Liabilities

Choosing the Period

FY startdate
The start of the fiscal year. Leave it blank to use your company's configured year.
As atdate
The date the closing balance is taken at. Defaults to today.

Click Apply to refresh. If no lease-liability account moved in the period, the page says so. Click any amount to open Amount Breakdown, and use Export to Excel to download the schedule.

Reading the Schedule

Each row is one liability account whose name contains "lease liability". Liabilities are shown credit-positive, so a growing balance is a positive number. Opening is the balance at the start of the period, Additions are new leases recognised, and Repayments reduce the liability. Closing is the balance at the As at date and should agree with the lease ledger and the Balance Sheet.

Tip

Lease postings show up here once their journals are posted. If the closing balance looks off, compare it with the Lease Ledger.

How It Connects

Set up first

  • Leased Assets — each lease and its liability account are defined in the register.
  • Chart of Accounts — a liability account is listed when its name contains lease liability.

Gets its data from

  • Lease Journals — recognition and repayment journals post to the liability account.
  • Repayment Schedule — the planned payments that become repayments once recorded.

Feeds into

  • Balance Sheet — the closing balance supports the lease-liability lines.
  • FX Revaluation — foreign-currency lease liabilities are restated at the closing rate.
