Trial Balance
The Trial Balance lists every account with its net balance on the debit or the credit side and proves the books are in balance: total debits must equal total credits. Accountants run it before preparing the financial statements and whenever something looks wrong in the ledger. Only posted journals count; draft (unposted) documents are excluded.
Where to Find It
- Click Treasury in the sidebar
- Open Financial Statements, then select Trial Balance
You need the Treasury Financial Statements permission. The page title shows the currency the figures are in, for example Trial Balance (PHP).
Choosing What to Show
Click Apply after changing the as-of date or year start. The type selector takes effect immediately.
Reading the Report
Each row shows the account code and description, then two period blocks side by side: Month To Date (the as-of month) and Year To Date (year start to the as-of date). Within each block the account's net lands in the DR or CR column, whichever side it naturally sits on. The last row is the Grand Total, and a chip beside the column headings reads Balanced or Not balanced.
A "Not balanced" chip means the posted journals do not net to zero. Trace it in the General Ledger and the Journal Entries.
Seeing What Makes Up an Amount
On the GL Trial Balance, click any amount (an account row or the Grand Total) to open the Amount Breakdown. It explains how that figure is computed, lists the posted journal lines behind it, and has an Open in General Ledger button that jumps to the ledger for that account. Amounts on the Debtor and Creditor types are not clickable.
Apply Reporting Currency
On the GL Trial Balance, Apply Reporting Currency translates the whole report into another currency (an IAS 21 translation). Pick a Reporting currency (or keep the configured default) and a Rate book (or keep the Default book), then click Apply. The figures are replaced in place and the title shows, for example, PHP to USD. If a required exchange rate is missing, the page says the translation is unavailable instead of showing partial figures. Click Reset to functional to go back. The button is hidden on the Debtor and Creditor types, and choosing one of them drops the translation.
Exporting to Excel
Export to Excel downloads the report exactly as filtered, including the type, dates and, when applied, the reporting currency.
Importing Beginning Balances
The Import Beginning Balances button on this page loads your opening trial balance when you start using ANTE mid-life.
- UploadEnter the As-of date (the last day before go-live, such as the prior year-end) and upload an .xlsx, .xls or .csv file. AI reads the file and maps the columns; it may ask you a few clarifying questions first.
- ReviewCheck the matched and skipped rows and the total debit and credit tie-out. If the file is out of balance, the difference is posted to Opening Balance Equity and a warning tells you the amount and side.
- ImportClick Import. The opening entries are posted and every report refreshes.
Your accountant should clear Opening Balance Equity to Retained Earnings when ready.
