Deal Type

Deal Types help categorize your sales opportunities for better organization and reporting.

Overview

Assigning deal types allows you to:

  • Organize deals by category
  • Filter and search by type
  • Generate reports by deal type
  • Track performance by category

Page Layout

  • Add Deal Type button - Create new type
  • Search - Find deal types
  • Deal Types Table - List of all types

Deal Type Information

Each deal type has:

Type NameName of the deal type
DescriptionWhat this type represents
ColorColor coding for visual identification
StatusActive/Inactive

Common Tasks

Creating a Deal Type

  1. Click + Add Deal Type
  2. Enter type details:
    • Name - Descriptive name (e.g., "IT Services", "Product Sale")
    • Description - Brief explanation
    • Color - Select color for visual coding
  3. Click Save

Editing a Deal Type

  1. Find the type in the list
  2. Click Edit
  3. Update information
  4. Click Save

Deactivating a Deal Type

  1. Find the type
  2. Click Edit
  3. Change status to Inactive
  4. Click Save

Note: Deactivating a type doesn't affect existing deals with that type.

Example Deal Types

Common deal type categories:

  • IT Company - Technology clients
  • Product Sale - Product-based deals
  • Service Contract - Service agreements
  • Consulting - Consulting engagements
  • Maintenance - Support contracts
  • Upgrade - Existing customer upgrades

Tips

  • Clear Names - Use descriptive, understandable names
  • Consistent Use - Apply types consistently across deals
  • Review Regularly - Add new types as business evolves
  • Don't Over-Categorize - Keep types manageable
  • Use for Reporting - Leverage types in sales reports
