Creating a New Project

Learn how to create and set up a new project in ANTE.

Who Can Create Projects?

You need one of these roles:

  • Project Manager
  • Administrator
  • Operations Manager

Don't have permission? Contact your administrator.

Creating Your First Project

Step 1: Navigate to Projects

  1. Click Projects in the left sidebar
  2. You'll see the projects list page

Step 2: Start New Project

Click the + New Project button (green button in the top right corner)

Step 3: Fill in Basic Information

Project Details Section

Fill in these required fields (marked with red asterisk *):

Project Name*

  • Enter a clear, descriptive name
  • Example: "Metro Station Construction - Phase 2"
  • Maximum 100 characters

Project Code*

  • Enter a unique identifier
  • Example: "PROJ-2024-001"
  • This cannot be changed later

Client/Customer*

  • Select from the dropdown list
  • Start typing to search
  • If client isn't listed, ask administrator to add them

Project Type*

  • Choose the category that best fits:
    • Construction
    • Maintenance
    • Consulting
    • Installation
    • Other

Step 4: Set Timeline

Start Date*

  • Click the calendar icon
  • Select the project start date
  • Cannot be in the past

End Date*

  • Click the calendar icon
  • Select expected completion date
  • Must be after start date

Duration

  • Automatically calculated
  • Shows total days between start and end

Step 5: Budget Information

Total Budget*

  • Enter the approved budget amount
  • Use numbers only (system adds currency)
  • Example: 1000000.00

Budget Warning Threshold

  • Set percentage for alerts (optional)
  • Default is 80%
  • You'll get notified when spending reaches this level

Step 6: Assign Team

Project Manager*

  • Select from employee dropdown
  • This person will receive all project notifications
  • Can be changed later if needed

Team Members

  • Click "Add Team Member"
  • Search and select employees
  • Assign their role in the project
  • Set their access level:
    • View Only
    • Edit
    • Full Access

Step 7: Additional Settings

Project Description

  • Add detailed information about the project
  • Include objectives and scope
  • Maximum 5000 characters

Priority Level

  • Select: Low, Medium, High, or Critical
  • Affects dashboard display order

Project Status

  • New projects start as "Draft"
  • Options:
    • Draft (can be edited freely)
    • Active (project is ongoing)
    • On Hold (temporarily paused)
    • Completed (finished)
    • Cancelled (terminated)

Tags (Optional)

  • Add keywords for easier searching
  • Separate multiple tags with commas
  • Example: "urgent, government, infrastructure"

Step 8: Save the Project

Review Your Information

  • Check all fields for accuracy
  • Required fields must be filled

Save Options:

  1. Save as Draft - Save and continue editing later
  2. Save and Activate - Save and start the project immediately
  3. Cancel - Discard all changes

Click your preferred option.

After Creating the Project

Once saved, you'll be redirected to the project details page where you can:

  • Add tasks and milestones
  • Upload documents
  • Set up the project calendar
  • Configure notifications
  • Add more team members

Common Questions

Can I edit the project after creating it?

  • Draft Status: All fields can be edited
  • Active Status: Limited editing (requires approval)
  • Completed Status: No editing allowed

What if my client isn't in the list?

Only administrators can add new clients. Contact your admin with:

  • Client company name
  • Contact person
  • Contact details

Can I duplicate an existing project?

Yes! Find a similar project and:

  1. Click the three dots menu (⋮)
  2. Select "Duplicate Project"
  3. Update the details as needed
  4. Save as new project

How do I delete a project?

  • Only administrators can delete projects
  • Projects with transactions cannot be deleted
  • Consider marking as "Cancelled" instead

Tips for Success

DO:

  • Use clear, descriptive project names
  • Set realistic timelines
  • Add all team members from the start
  • Include detailed descriptions
  • Set up budget alerts

DON'T:

  • Use special characters in project codes
  • Set end dates without buffer time
  • Leave budget fields at zero
  • Forget to assign a project manager
